Fabric Find

Fabric by Cosmo Textile, 100% cotton.

The print background is filled with newspaper clips and on the foreground various women clothings and accessories in vibrant colours. At first glance, it looks busy and messy, but upon closer inspection, it kind of grow on you *grin* The best thing about this fabric is the no-direction, meaning there's no right way up or hassle in trying to align the pictures while cutting *yeay*

My first commission with this fabric is a Curvy Clutch.

Quilted Pencase

After my first success (kind of) with the quilted pencase (I made a patchwork version for myself), I've made few others (minus the patchwork).

I really enjoy working on this project, small projects like this is a good stress reliever for me (see other stress relievers; pocket tissue, coin purse and thank you card)

Quilted pencase - inside view, I had a rather tough time figuring out how to attach the lining properly so that once you turn inside out the lining is as it should be..

Side view - another hurdle is making sure the corners match.

All in all an interesting project. Definitely learnt something new and valuable along the way.

Underwear obsession continues

Happy Eid'ul Fitr to all those celebrating!! We had a simple celebration here in Kyoto, Eid prayer followed by Eid feast with other Malaysian friends

I have a couple of items made out of the underwear fabric and I just had to share them with you. I only had 2m of this fabric and was unable to replenish it once I was almost out. So, I'm making sure I use this fabric until its last scrap *grin*

I made a Puchi-Pouch commisioned by a friend, and from the leftover fabric, I made a card case. I have not made one in a long while, and making them again reminded me of the joy. I think I might make more soon..

Petit Pouches

MyBotanG's puchi pouches (puchi = petit; leave it to the Japanese to Japonise everything, it sounds cute though!! hehe)

It is BIG enough for all the 'necessities' (the definition of necessity might differ).

Mine includes compact powder x 2, 2 lipstick shades, 3 eyeliners, mascara, blusher and brush, sanitary pad and a couple of panty liners..

Yet SMALL enough for your handbag *smile*

Cozy Case

I love this pattern from Keyka Lou (Cell Phone Case). I call it Cozy Case. The PDF pattern includes 2 sizes; big and small. The pictured Cozy Case is of the latter size which could fit the usual smaller sized handphones, whilst the bigger Cozy Case could fit small cameras (DSLR cameras a big NO *grin*) and the bulky type handphones.

At the back, a slot to store name cards, shopping list, gums (anything slim and slender).  

I've used black polka dot fabric for the lining fabric, and I've yet to install a snap button for closure.

Are you wondering of the fabric I've used for the Cozy Case? It is from Alexander Henry's Indochine collection which I can't seem to find online. So here's a picture of my Hippo Hobo that uses the print.

A girl named ALANI

I made a sling bag for a liltle girl named Alani last year.

The original pattern was simple, with prong button for closure and long fabric handle. 

I called the sling bag ALANI.   

Recently, I made another sling bag with some alteration. I added flap to the bag and instead of using fabric, I used canvas tape for the handle. The end product turned out well...quite good (grin) but the process was hellish.. What with packing and getting ready to return to Malaysia, the rush to add or do alteration at that tense time was highly NOT recommended.

I found attaching the flap to the main body of the bag was horribly difficult with the machine, and attaching the sling at the same time almost impossible. Blame it on the wrong timing, preassure to finish the project or PMS, but everything that was suppose to go wrong DID GO WRONG *arrrrggghhhhh* After several attempts, and lots and lots of ripping, I finally hand sew the flap and the handle to the main body with pink floss *grin*

Have you faced such experience..? When things go wrong no matter what you do, what do you do then, how did you resolve it?

Another pocket tissue cover

As I was going through my scrap fabric bin (yup, I was rummaging through the brown shades), I came across some smaller pieces of scraps and remembering how little fabric it takes to make pocket tissue cases, I decided to give them a go.

This is the first time I've made them in patches, and I've also added some lace and ribbons on the edges. I used some decorative stiches on them. These pocket tissue cases are lined (and no, the lining are not patched *grin*)

They are very easy superfast to make - I spent more time choosing and matching the fabrics than the actual sewing. You can find tutorials on how to make these here and here.Pin It

Coin purse

I always look forward to easy-no stress-scrap projects mainly because I'm not making anything for others, I get to try something new and if it doesn't work out, I can always chuck it back deep into the scrap bags *grin*

I made 4 quilted coin purse totally out of scraps, even the zippers were remnants from my other projects. It was fun and easy and they did turn out rather cute.. heheh

I recommend to those wanting to practice quilting on a small scale to try making something like this or pot holders.

The purses are fully lined with no seams showing
