I completed two commisioned Odekake bags this morning for my friends. As I was clipping excess threads and sewing the openning, I remembered the first Odekake bag I made about a year ago. I saw the pattern in one of the sewing books I got from the local library here. The thing that caught my attention about the bag is the wide openning and how you dont have to fiddle looking for keys or something. Odekake means going out in Japanese and I think the bag is perfect for going out *grin*

p/s: ive had a hard time trying to figure out how to make pleats on pockets like you did! as you know some tutorials were just words and lotsa words without any pictures! grrr....
did you manage to do the pleats on the pockets..?? i saw few pics somewhere and tried it in my own version.. not sure if that is the correct way.. insyaallah will try to make a tutorial for it next time..
you're so lucky to be living in a place where all the nice fabrics are! I do so like the Japanese colour schemes that I see in their craft books. And this material for your bag is just great! I usually buy the so-called Japanese fabrics from Kamdar here.
