Where were you last weekend..??

I was busy stuffing myself with glorious foods prepared NOT by me... *grin*

After being in Japan for about 6 years in total, this is the first time I've seen this many Muslims gathered in one place eating, talking, mixing around..eerr did I mention eating??

I was @ the Islam Food Festival held annually and this year attended by about 850 people. We had foods from Malaysia, Indonesia, Egypt, Morocco, Iran, Bangladesh and maybe few other places.
So, where were you last weekend..??

Never ending summer and a new bag

I have to admit that I've NOT been productive, I've been dragging my feet around, mopping and sulking and being moody *sigh*

I blame the HEAT and the HUMIDITY of Kyoto. Note to travellers - NEVER plan to visit Kyoto or surrounding areas in summer, the best time to see Kyoto has to be in Autumn
*atleast that's what I've been told*

Moving on.. I've been toying with this pattern for a while now. It is actually a pattern for a sling bag. However, I've omitted the long sling for my first attempt. So, tadaaaa *grin*
Let me introduce you to _________________ (fill in the blank with a suitable name) *sigh* again a lonely, nameless bag..
any ideas in naming this bag..?

 Size: 20.5cm (l) x 15cm (h) x 7cm (width all around)

Features:
Zip
Lined
Used fusible interfaced for sturdier shape
1 outside pocket

The bag is rather spacious, I would use it to store all my toiletries while travelling or as a one stop to store all my stationeries - I'm obsessed with stationeries too *roll eyes*
What would you use it for??
The main fabric is by Moda (I have it in blue as well), while for the lining, I've used a similar shade of green polka dot fabric.

What do you think?
I am thinking of trying a quilted version next.. if and only if autumn promises to show...*grin*

Petit Pouches

MyBotanG's puchi pouches (puchi = petit; leave it to the Japanese to Japonise everything, it sounds cute though!! hehe)

It is BIG enough for all the 'necessities' (the definition of necessity might differ).
Mine includes compact powder x 2, 2 lipstick shades, 3 eyeliners, mascara, blusher and brush, sanitary pad and a couple of panty liners..
Yet SMALL enough for your handbag *smile*

You might remember the undies fabric from here.

I'm thinking of a giveaway... happening @ the shoppe till 5th Sept 2010..

Cozy Case

I love this pattern from Keyka Lou (Cell Phone Case). I call it Cozy Case. The PDF pattern includes 2 sizes; big and small. The pictured Cozy Case is of the latter size which could fit the usual smaller sized handphones, whilst the bigger Cozy Case could fit small cameras (DSLR cameras a big NO *grin*) and the bulky type handphones.

At the back, a slot to store name cards, shopping list, gums (anything slim and slender).

I've used black polka dot fabric for the lining fabric, and I've yet to install a snap button for closure.

Are you wondering of the fabric I've used for the Cozy Case? It is from Alexander Henry's Indochine collection which I can't seem to find online. So here's a picture of my Hippo Hobo that uses the print.

How are you progressing with your WIPs in this Ramadhan month??
I'm focussing on completing my quilts this month (4 baby quilts and 2 single quilts) and I'm happy to report I've completed 3 baby quilts so far.. *happy*Pin It

Itty Bitty Bella - Baby Quilt

Do you still remember the Marcus fabrics I showcased awhile back??
No, then headover here first to refresh your memory.
Yes, then please read on *grin*
I finally turned the pink itty bitty bella into a baby quilt. It has to be one of my favourites. The colour combination is totally delicious, the cute baby prints in the centre were sweet and I 'traced' over the pattern to emphasise.
The best part has to be the squares around the centre panel.
I made the binding from a matching pink fabric which was on sale here.
I used free quilting motion for this quilt and how better to see the pattern than the back..
As you can see I rarely use patterned or coloured fabrics for the backs.

What are you working on at the moment..?
I have to say August seems like a QUILT month for me.. I have 4 baby quilts and 2 single quilts waiting to be worked on.. (I know, I know, a bit too ambitious, but after 3 weeks of lazying around without any real sewing, I am excited to be working again)

More LECIEN and August projects

It is 2nd day of Ramadhan here in Japan and we are hit by typhoon. Our area has not been badly affected but it has been raining non-stop since last night. On the plus side, it is at least 5 degree cooler than what it has been for many-many weeks now, but the dowside is ruined homes and relocation for many people further South of Japan.. How is your Ramadhan so far??
Both fabrics by LECIEN

My hands are itching to start fiddling with the yummy fabrics since I got back from Malaysia. The Lecien fabrics (more of the yumminess here) is crying out to be turned into a baby quilt but I'm contemplating on the design. Usually I'll make a centre panel (white background fabric) and border (polka dot fabric) (See some of my previous quilts here and here). But since I got my rotary cutter, I'm feling rather adventurous *grin*
But how would you do it??
Would square patchwork look pretty..??? Hope you'd shed some ideas.. *confuse*

5 more days to go

Another 5 days to go before we return to Japan..
Though such a short trip, it was meaningful and full of beautiful memories.
The best part about my trip back home this year is I get to meet, hug and kiss the newest addition to our family, 4 months old Baby Sufi Hana.
You might still remember about me going on and on about making a quilt and crib padding for Hana chan from this post.

And of course I get to spend time with my nephew, the now big brother Saif Emir.
He is hardly 2 and a half years old, but he speaks clearly and expresses himself well, and we still get kisses and hugs from him.. *grin*
The hardest part of living so far away, is missing seeing them grow in front of my eyes and being there for them *sob*
